Barangay Bogtong in Busuanga, Philippines has adopted local mangrove restoration practices to support ecosystem health and climate change mitigation.

Here are some of their best practices for local restoration:

  • Unite with purpose: Find partners who share your vision; when your hearts are aligned, working together becomes natural.
  • Learn the science: Gain technical skills and ensure you select the right mangrove variety for your specific planting site.
  • Build local support: Enlist the support of your Barangay and local government to empower your advocacy.
  • Stay the course: While many join at the start, it is the dedicated few who stay for the long journey of caring for our forests.
