The First Regional Scientific and Technical Committee (RSTC) Meeting
The First Meeting of the Regional Scientific and Technical Committee (RSTC) for the UNEP/GEF "Implementing the Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand" (SCS SAP Project) was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 17–19, 2022.
Importance and Objectives: The RSTC acts as the primary advisory body, providing scientific and technical guidance to the Project Steering Committee (PSC). This first meeting was crucial for kickstarting the regional implementation phase after initial project delays and ensuring that scientific elements are integrated into national and regional activities. The committee's mandate is to oversee the project's technical quality and provide strategic direction for achieving SAP targets related to coastal habitat management.

The SCS SAP Project assist countries in meeting the targets of the approved Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the marine and coastal environment of the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand through implementation of the National Action Plans in support of the SAP, and strengthening regional co-ordination for South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand SAP implementation
