On 4–10 April 2026, we concluded a successful field mission in Bintan, Indonesia to conduct a field visit and the signing ceremony of the seagrass Project in Bintan together with our local partners and committed communities. This activity has been led by Indonesia's IPB University Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies.
What happened on the ground?
  • In Mapur & Pengudang villages, we’ve officially marked the boundaries for new Seagrass Protection Areas.
  • Local community leaders and village heads signed new regulations to protect these habitats from pollution and damage.
  • It’s not only about seagrass. We also held training for local coastal women to help diversify their products and create new ways to earn a living while protecting the sea.
A huge thank you to the local authorities, IPB University, and the enthusiastic communities in Bintan for their support. This "all-hands" approach is exactly what we need to keep the Seas of East Asia healthy and vibrant.

These efforts in Bintan are part of a network of 14 active pilot sites across 6 countries.

The mission included site surveys in Mapur (5-6 April) and a formal signing ceremony in Pengudang (9 April).
