The Second Meeting of the Regional Working Group on Land-Based Pollution (RWG-LBP) is a part of the "Implementing the Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand (SCS SAP Project)". The meeting, which takes place on November 11-12, 2024, in Shenzhen, China, aims to review the status and progress of the SCS SAP implementation at both regional and national levels. Specifically, it will focus on reviewing the status of preparation and implementation of land-based pollution activities at the national level by National Land-based Pollution Focal Points from participating countries like Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. A key objective is the review of the SCS SAP Project targets, activities, and execution arrangements for land-based pollution, including updates on related initiatives from the COBSEA Coordinator. A significant portion of the agenda is dedicated to discussing the process, data, and information required for the development and updating of the Transboundary Diagnosis Analysis (TDA) and Strategic Action Programme (SAP) of the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, including data availability and watershed data requirements. The group will also discuss execution arrangements, work plans, next steps, and potential field visits. The meeting is critical for strengthening regional coordination and ensuring the effective implementation of the project's goals related to land-based pollution management in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
