The Second Meeting of the Regional Scientific and Technical Committee (RSTC) is a key event for the "Implementing the Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand (SCS SAP Project)". The project's objective is to assist participating countries (Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam) in meeting the approved Strategic Action Programme (SAP) targets for the marine and coastal environment of the South China Sea. The main objectives of this meeting, held from July 23 to 25, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, are to discuss the proposed process for the development and updating of the Transboundary Diagnosis Analysis (TDA) and SAP , options for a regional data and knowledge management system , and the documentation of SAP implementation achievements during 2008–2021 and good practices for publication. The RSTC, composed of National Technical Focal Points, Regional Working Group Chairs, and experts, will review the status and progress of the SCS SAP project at regional and national levels through country reports. The meeting is crucial for strengthening the scientific and technical basis for regional coordination and the execution of project activities. The event will conclude with a field visit to the Marine and Coastal Resources Office 8 and the Don Hoi Lot wetland in Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram Provinces, Thailand.
